Attractions

Hampden Park has many attractions.  The northern section is dominated by the recently restored Decoy Pond and surrounding woodland with many pleasant paths.  There are many fine specimen trees and during the early spring crocuses and daffodils appear in profusion to the west of the lake.

Lakeside Café, usually open every day except Christmas Day, lies in the centre of the Park.  Nearby is a well-equipped children’s playground, with sandpit and other facilities including a zip wire to challenge the older children.  There are outdoor tennis courts and two bowls clubs.

To the south, playing fields are available for casual use and with the Sports Park facilities are utilised for rugby, football, cricket and athletics.

A Guided Walk around the park is here.

Near the café is an Arboretum and history garden, an attraction and educational feature of which the Friends are particularly proud.  Please click on the link for more information.
